June Update

3-D Rendering by TGB Architects
TGB Architects created a 3-D rendering of our children's home! The design will change slightly but this gives you some idea of what our self-sustainable home will look like. Thank you TGBA!

Loputh's Second Surgery

Loputh is going back to Kampala International Hospital for his second ear surgery with Dr. Mufumba by his side. Thank you Lisa for covering the cost of the surgery and for supporting Loputh! He blessed to have such a loving and caring sponsor. Also, thank you Dr. Mufumba for all that you do for our children, especially Loputh. We are lucky to have all of you on our team!

L to R: Loputh and Mark all smiles!

These are the details Dr. Mufumba gave us about Loputh's second surgery:

"Loputh's ear had healed and even the repaired ossicles and ear drum were all intact and was now able to hear with the repaired ear. However, when he examined the other ear, he said it was already perforated and with alot of debris. He said, that the same operation known as TYMPANOMASTEIDECTOMY was required. This involves: 1) The removal of debris and pus discharge 2) There is reconstruction of the middle ear components and 3) The repair of the ear drum."

Dr. Mufumba Returns from Egypt

Dr. Mufumba's trip to Egypt was a success! He completed a three week intensive course in Cairo and received his training certificate. We are so proud of you Doctor! What an accomplishment!

May Update

Full Circle

The children are normally given their allowance at the end of the school holiday, but this holiday they asked us if they could have the money a little earlier. When they went to visit their families in Masese, we found out why. Each child gave their allowance to their mother. Talk about coming full circle. We are so proud of them.

Swimming Trip!

Lisa McIntosh sponsored a swimming trip for all of the Peace for Paul children and they had a blast! Thank you so much Lisa! This is what Dr. Mufumba had to say about the trip:

We had one of the most fantastic days in my life, watching kids swim, and not wishing to stop!! Some of our kids who had never swam before amused us the most, as for instance Timothy my boy who was jumping like a toad! I could see Rose my wife die of laughter. Similarly, Priscilla was teased twice as she would immerse her head, only to feel like she was sinking and had to be brought out first, but remained admiring the experts like Florence, Agnes, Friday, etc. So here she was again helped and this time she tried and enjoyed swimming but as a learner. Every kid and us adults ordered whatever we wanted to eat and drink. I ordered fish and they brought me a whole fried tilapia with some rice, which I had to share with Joseph, Hawa, Allan and Priscilla as Jaja was enjoying with Longoli and others. Prima was so busy ensuring that all of us were well and to see that we had eaten and we took water/soda as well. We thank you and we didn’t wish to eat back at home.

New Toys

Thanks to our sponsors we were able to purchase some toys for the Peace for Paul home! Look at how happy the kids are. :)

We're so close! Gravitate Design finished the website design and Paul Wiens is tying up the loose ends. We're really excited about it. Here's a sneak peek:

Thank you Gravitate Design and Paul Wiens!

The Ministry of Health Selects Dr. Mufumba! Congratulations Doctor!

In his words: I am so delighted to inform you that the Ministry of Health has selected me and two other suitable Health Professionals to go for a special training in Emergency care in Cairo, for three weeks starting from June 6th to the 27th. The Egyptian government requested the Uganda Government's Ministry of Health (MOH) to nominate 3 suitable candidates to go and train in Cairo. So the Permanent secretary MOH asked the commissioner health services MOH to carefully select three outstanding health professionals in Uganda. It was on these grounds that I was identified as one of them, and I could not believe this. This training is sponsored by the Arab Fund for African development, based in Cairo Egypt. I am yet to get the itinerary and all the required documents like the visa and air ticket. But it is a fully sponsored trip. So pray for me.

We Are Family!

These pictures made us smile. :)
