November Update!

We have some really good news...

An anonymous donor has purchased the property that we've been renting for the last two years!  The children are so excited to have a place to call a permanent home!  We are beyond thrilled and have so much to be grateful for!

New Matron!

We hired a new matron named Becky to help Emma care for the children, especially the younger children and girls.

Natule, Becky, Bosco and Joseph with their letters from Lisa

Doctor Mufumba held a family meeting to introduce the children to Becky and to remind them of some of our house rules.

"...I informed them about Becky, the new matron, and encouraged them to cooperate and feel free with her and I also encouraged Becky to love and serve the children as much as she could.  I also informed them about the great gift of the PFP home which has been purchased for them to stay in.  I reminded them about always working hard, being disciplined and honest, no stealing, no lying and no fighting."

--Doctor Mufumba

Becky sent an email informing us of some of her plans for the girls at PFP.

"I will be having several meetings with the girls alone since they are more vulnerable.  Possibly once a week to get to know their views, challenges and problems they will be facing.  I will be telling you of what transpired in the meetings."

October Update!

Annual Online Auction

Thanks to your generous donations and your bids, our expectations were exceeded and The Peace for Paul Annual Online Auction raised...

$15,000!!!!!

We surpassed our goal and we are so excited to get started on these projects that will improve the lives of our wonderful children!  A special thanks to Lisa McIntosh who put so much effort into making this year's auction a huge success!

Emma Visits Moroto

The Karamojong tribe is originally from the Moroto District in northern Uganda.  Our Director, Emma, hadn't been back to visit since he left when he was a small child.  The goal of this trip was to find two needy children who would benefit from our program.  Emma quickly identified Tikol Joseph and Angella Joseph, met with the local chair and received permission to return to Mbiko with the two boys.

Other News

Naru, Friday's aunt, named her new baby after Heidi and Tomasz's daughter Madison.  They were honored and can't wait to meet the Ugandan Madison!

Doctor Mufumba and his family have asked to continue to care for Apurio and Longoli!  He wrote a very touching email, here is a short excerpt:

"Surely Longoli and Apurio have become a part of my family.  Many visitors ask me whether we have triplets or if Jonah (Mufumba's biological son) closely follows twins.  You find the three of them doing the same things at the same time (e.g. playing with toys, singing, dancing, greeting in our local way, eating, etc.)... Dada and Rose plus all the rest are there to help them grow and develop to their best."

September Update!

New Children!

Ugandan Director Emma and a matron will live at home with the younger children that PFP sponsors so that they don't have to live in the slums any longer.  This means that little Luke is now out of the slums and living at home!  It also means that we are able to bring in two new little ones this month!

Ochola
Nangiro
We have also welcomed six-year-old Irene to the family!  Irene is Friday's cousin and he is so happy to have her join the Peace for Paul family.  Emma helped Irene transition from the slums to the PFP home to school.  She is doing well and is so happy to be with the other PFP family members.

Ajuna Emma also started school with the others.  He tested into Primary 4 (fourth grade)!  We are so proud of him!

Fundraisers

The third Peace for Paul Annual Online Auction has begun!  Volunteer Karen put together a beautiful catalog that features the nearly ONE HUNDRED packages that were donated this year!!!  Thank you Karen for the 25+ hours you put into making this year's auction a success!  And THANK YOU to everyone who donated!!!

Here's what our Development Director, Lisa McIntosh, had to say about the auction this year:

"Thanks to everyone who donated the packages, we appreciate it so much.  But now we need to sell them!  ...as most of you know, I recently returned from a trip to Uganda and absolutely fell in love with our kids there.  There is much work to do, but what we have managed to do so far is great and the kids are so happy and healthy.  Thanks to everyone who has supported us in the past and to those of you who continue to do so.  Your support is life changing for these kids."

Our Executive Director, Heidi Kaltur, said, "All proceeds from this auction will be going toward the construction of a third building on our property in Uganda.  This building will include a kitchen, mess hall, bathing facilites and a common study area for the children.  Once this is finished it will allow space for us to rescue nine more children from the slums and streets.  Let's do this!"

The Bridgetown to Bay Area cycling fundraiser started on September 9th!  To find out more about the fundraiser or to donate to Peace for Paul visit our web page or the facebook page here!

Brandi Eslinger held a fundraiser in Portland, OR.  Board members Heidi, Tomasz, Amphy and Monika attended along with volunteer Beth!  They all had a fabulous time and Brandi raised $1,100 for Peace for Paul!  Thank you Brandi!

Artist Laura is asking anyone who is interested to make pillow cases for the children for Christmas!  While Ellie was in Uganda she noticed that all of the children's beds were uniform and thought that the kids would really like something unique and personalized to make them feel more at home.  She is blessed to have an aunt with so much talent and compassion for the PFP children!  Thank you Laura!
