July Update

Question of the Month

Each month we would like to reach out to our supporters and sponsors in hopes that you would be willing to provide feedback to better our organization. This month's question has to do with our website. We are currently in the process updating and redesigning our website.

Question: How can we improve our website? Do you like the current format? Is there anything specific that you would like to see added? (www.peaceforpaulfoundation.org)

Please send your responses to Heidi (hope@peaceforpaulfoundation.org). Thank you!

Holiday Around the Corner

The kids are returning home from boarding school on July 25th. They are looking forward to another swimming trip, this time sponsored by the wonderful Kritzberger family.

Amy Kritzberger was a special girl who had a love for photography and always dreamed of helping people in need in Africa. Her mother carries on her legacy by contributing a monthly donation to PFP as well as selling Amy's photography and donating the proceeds to PFP. We are honored to have this family involved with PFP and know that the children will be so thrilled to have a swim party.

Backpacks for Kids

We are putting together packages for each of our kids again this year. We would love your help! If you are a sponsor and you would like to put together your sponsor child's package or if you are not a sponsor, but you would like to participate please contact Heidi (hope@peaceforpaulfoundation.org).
Packages should be sent to Lisa by October 1st, 2014. Lisa will be delivering the backpacks in November. Heidi will provide you with sizing and additional details via email. Thank you for your help!!!

Sponsorship Opportunity

We are currently looking for sponsors for several girls we are hoping to assist. Many of these girls have been living in the streets or slums, are going without schooling and have little food. Most of them are orphaned as well. We have several sponsors lined up (thank you!!!), but we are in need of more. Sponsorship is $65 per month for a half sponsor and $130 per month for a full. Sponsorship covers boarding school fees, clothes, food, medical (general, dental, mental), and much more.

"SAVE A GIRL, SAVE A GENERATION."

Please let us know if you're interested in helping us with this important cause. You can email Heidi (hope@peaceforpaulfoundation.org) for more information.

Fahad, Phionah and Faima are all doing very well at school. Each has perfect attendance and their teachers have nothing but wonderful things to say about them. All of them are in good health as well.

Gracie and Sophie
Thanks to Gracie and Sophie, two young girls who put on a fundraiser for PFP! You inspire us! We are grateful to both of you and plan to use the donation to help one of our children with a minor medical issue.

Peace for Paul Book of the Year

At our annual in-person meeting the board decided that we will read one or two books a year that could benefit PFP and the board. This year we are reading The Blue Sweater. If you haven't read it we welcome you to join us. Those of us who have read it highly recommend it.

Here's the synopsis via amazon.com:

"Jacqueline Novogratz left a career in international banking to spend her life on a quest to understand global poverty and find powerful new ways of tackling it. It all started back home in Virginia, with the blue sweater, a gift that quickly became her prized possession — until the day she outgrew it and gave it away to Goodwill. Eleven years later in Africa, she spotted a young boy wearing that very sweater, with her name still on the tag inside. That the sweater had made its trek all the way to Rwanda was ample evidence, she thought, of how we are all connected, how our actions — and inaction — touch people every day across the globe, people we may never know or meet. From her first stumbling efforts as a young idealist venturing forth in Africa to the creation of the trailblazing organization she runs today, Novogratz tells gripping stories with unforgettable characters — women dancing in a Nairobi slum, unwed mothers starting a bakery, courageous survivors of the Rwandan genocide, entrepreneurs building services for the poor against impossible odds. She shows, in ways both hilarious and heartbreaking, how traditional charity often fails, but how a new form of philanthropic investing called “patient capital” can help make people self-sufficient and can change millions of lives. More than just an autobiography or a how-to guide to addressing poverty, The Blue Sweater is a call to action that challenges us to grant dignity to the poor and to rethink our engagement with the world."
