November Update

PFP On-Line Annual Auction

A huge THANK YOU to everyone for making this years auction the most successful auction we have had to date!! We surpassed our goal!! The funding received will be used to build up our scholarship fund and to build a new outdoor eating area and recreation area at Hope Home (the boys’ home). In addition we will be embarking on the project of building a fence at Peace Home (the girls’ home), this will allow us to start the growth of a large garden and banana plantation. Our girls will begin to learn gardening and farming skills!!

Also, many people made very generous donations to the following categories: Vision & Hearing, Family Ties (we will be sending some children in the month of November to visit family members they may not have seen in a while), Sponsor a Smile, Book Project (novel reading program is being developed) & mosquito nets at the girls home.

School Time!!

This past term we had seven children in a candidate class – Primary 7. This program means they sat for their National Exams that will determine the post secondary school they will be eligible to attend. We are still awaiting results but the candidates are now home and feel confident their tests went well. The seven children in the candidate class are: Michael, Mark, Bosco, Tikol, Paul, Lotuke & Ajuna.

Our candidates: Michael, Bosco, Paul, Ajuna, Tikol and Lotuke (only Mark is missing from this pic!)

The rest of the children are still currently in school and will be wrapping up their exams on the 28th of this month, and then they will come home.

Supplemental Education

We are also developing additional supplemental education curriculum at the moment. We currently have many new careers for the career workshop that will be taught in December. We also hope to have a basic English curriculum ready for the new girls coming in so that they can have regular lessons along with anyone who may be struggling in school.

Sponsorship Opportunities

We are still currently looking for a few sponsors for the girls we are bringing in this month. Many of these girls have been living on the streets or slums and are going without schooling. They have little access to food, clean drinking water and toilet facilities. Most of them are orphaned as well. We have several sponsors lined up (THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!), but we are in need of a couple more. Sponsorship is $65 per month for a half sponsor and $130 per month for a full. Sponsorship covers boarding school fees, clothes, food, medical (general, dental, mental), and much more.

Please let us know if you're interested in helping us with this important cause. You can email hope@peaceforpaulfoundation.org for more information regarding sponsorship.

We are on the lookout for more PFP Jr. Sponsors. The new PFPJ program allows us to help a larger number of needy Ugandan children obtain an education. The children who benefit from our PFP Junior Program live in our neighborhood and are unable to afford school fees, uniform fees and school supplies. Because they have families to look after them, these children will not be living in our home. Rather, these children will live with their families and be sponsored through PFP for education costs only.

Sponsorship is $31/month. Imagine the difference that will make! Please consider sponsoring one of our new kids. Contact us at hope@peaceforpaulfoundation.org if you have any questions regarding this opportunity.

4th Annual Around the World Raffle

At the end of November we will be launching the annual raffle.  Get ready to purchase your $20 ticket for a chance to win airline tickets for two (up to $5,000) in economy class anywhere in the world.  The tickets make excellent Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers.

We are currently redesigning our website! It should be up and running and looking much more current by the end of November. Stay tuned!
