July Update!

Visitation Day

The children had a school talent show and the Doctor and Becky were able to attend. It looks like it was a wonderful time!

"I must say we had the most wonderful time ever with the kids at school. It was such a colorful day full of entertainment, joy, eats and drinks. We enjoyed performances from some of our kids like Agnes Longok, Gloria and Natule Harriet."

-- Becky

"We shall always remember when we went for visitation and witnessed our talented children taking on the stage miming and dancing before an excited audience. This school enhances the self esteem of the children, they presented confidently. This is a great school and I hope that they continue to progress further."

Holiday

The children have returned to Hope Home for school holiday! They will be busy with a birthday party, a special outing, visiting their families, a sex-education course for those eight years old and older, the novel program and soccer program. In addition they'll have plenty of visitors as several of the PFP board members and their families are visiting in August! The children are so excited!

The last backpack is on its way! Thank you to all who sent backpacks! This is the most exciting holiday for the children because they receive so much love from all of you. Stay tuned for photos.

The first Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser was held in Calgary, Canada and it was a huge success!

Thank you to everyone who contributed!
The children are blessed to have such strong supporters of PFP.

Annual Team Building Retreat

The majority of the PFP Board met in Calgary, Canada for the first Annual Team Building Retreat. There they held a strategic planning meeting and discussed changes and progress that PFP would like to make. Heidi believes that PFP will be better and stronger than ever before because of this planning session.

Typhoid Vaccinations

Doctor Mufumba looked all over Uganda for the typhoid vaccination since typhoid seems to be an ongoing problem for our children. He tracked it down, ordered a vaccination for each of the kids and gave them their injections at school. The vaccine will last for two years and will hopefully decrease the rate of typhoid in our children. Along with this effort PFP has been educating the children about the importance of clean water and food.

The doctor was kind enough to bring ice packs for the children to use after they received their shot!

May Update!

Birthday Beach Trip!

The children took a trip to to a beach of sorts to celebrate their birthdays and had such a marvelous time! Here Becky gives us an account of the day:

"Upon arrival the children headed straight to the water to take their first swim at a beach. We then had lunch, it was a meal to remember as it had all of the local foods that the children love so much. Next the little ones went to the park to play and the old ones took a boat ride. We celebrated their birthdays, shared cake and returned home. Everything was so perfect!"

Holiday Programs

This holiday the children are being taught the moral code program. This program includes lessons and discussions regarding respect and honesty. The children also participated in the sports program and the novel reading program, keeping them very busy.

Top 5 Readers for this holiday:

  1. Agnes Lotuke
  2. Kurre Bosco
  3. Lodukk Mark
  4. Agnes Longok
  5. Olupot Paul
Each of the top five readers won money to purchase candy or sweets with.

Graduation

Becky had her graduation ceremony. She waited to have it until this holiday so that the entire PFP family could attend, hoping to inspire the children to go to university as well. Congratulations Becky!

Visit to Masese

The children visited their parents, relatives and friends in the slums of Masese during their holiday. They all dress to impress when they go, a sign of respect in Ugandan culture. Aren't they just darling?

Brothers matching :)

Art With Heart

Thanks to Seabury students Mackenze, Kelsey and Ariella from the Art With Heart club in Maui for raising $2,500! The money went towards our brand new rainwater tank! Awesome work ladies.

Backpacks

If you offered to put together a backpack for your sponsor child or another child and you have not sent it to or contacted Lisa McIntosh, please do so. :) She is trying to coordinate with all of you so that she can take them with her to Uganda in August.

Land Title

PFP finally owns a Freehold Title on the land that we purchased two and a half years ago! This is what we mean when we refer to "Africa time." Haha.

Septic System

We're currently selecting a contractor to install a larger septic system and to build a perimeter wall and the multi-use facility.
