October Update!

School Field Trip!

The kids took a field trip with their school to Entebbe Zoo and the Kiwatule swimming pool on October 15th! Here's Fred's account of the trip:

"The trip was exciting for they saw lions, monkeys, snakes, baboons, crocodiles, wild pigs, ostriches, and horses. From the zoo they visited Kiwatule. Here they enjoyed swimming, swinging, and short rides on a train. They were treated to sodas, rice, and meat."

Thank you to our sponsors who funded this fun outing!

The children will be on their next holiday starting November 26th.

PFP Bank Account Opened in Uganda

Peace for Paul opened a bank account at a major Ugandan bank. This is a necessary step in the process of becoming a NGO in Uganda. Thank you Fred and Dr. Mufumba for coming through once again!

Fundraisers

Lisa held a Peace for Paul fundraiser this month in celebration of Canada's Thanksgiving holiday. The funds raised will go toward fencing the PFP land, purchasing goats to clear the land, and building a goat house. A similar fundraiser will be held for US PFP supporters in December for Christmas. The fundraiser was a success and we thank Lisa for her hard work and charitable efforts! Also a big thanks to all of those who participated in this fundraiser! Thank you, thank you, thank you from the Peace for Paul family!

Speaking of fundraisers... ;) The Peace for Paul Annual Online Auction is in progress! Lisa wrote a letter to all participants about our 2011 Annual Goal. Here's an excerpt:

"The money we raise is going to be used to help Peace for Paul get closer to its dream of building permanent homes for our children in Uganda. Thanks to you we were able to purchase land last year, and now we need to move forward with plans for construction. Our goal is to raise $70,000 over the next year. We need to make our first big dent in it!

By the end of 2011 we plan to fence the property, clear the land, put in a well, holding tank, and septic field and to build the first of the five homes we have planned for the property. Ambitious isn't it? But we're committed to seeing it happen. Please help us make it a reality."

A special thanks to all of those who donated to the auction!

Construction

We are in the process of obtaining a quote for the construction of the fence for the PFP property. We are negotiating with two different Ugandan companies. Thanks to Brandi we have found at least one company that is willing to give us a fair price.

New Member of the PFP Family!

By new we actually mean new to the Peace for Paul board because Brandi has been one of our biggest supporters from the beginning. Brandi now has the official title of Peace for Paul Consultant.

This month Brandi secured 100 lbs of medical supplies through Medwish for her next trip to Uganda. In addition she is organizing a book drive with a friend of hers through her friend's nursing school. We are so grateful for everything that she does for Peace for Paul!

Thank You Amphy!

Amphy, sponsor to Lodum, sent Lodum a package this month. Fred delivered the package and sent us an email that read:

"I have delievered the package to Lodum and of course she was very happy... she will be putting on her clothes during the holidays."'

It's a package!

There we go... :)
