The Small Business Loan Program

Mary and Abra sold their first batch of chickens! They made a small profit and are learning how to successfully run a small business and manage money. The bulk of the profit will be reinvested for the next round of chickens. We are very proud of Mary and Abra's hard work!

Here is what Dr. Mufumba had to say about the project:

"We have managed to raise 1,075,500 shillings. We sold 239 chicken at a low rate of 4500 per chicken, whole sale price. There was a total of 254 chicks, but 15 were registered dead because of the bad weather during the first 3 weeks, so we lost 67,500 shillings. I myself bought 13 broilers as I have a function for my staff and students just a week away. I offered one of the broilers that I bought to the women, one to Mze Sizomu (the man who we bought the land from) and one to Margaret.
We had also hoped to sell at a minimum of 5,000 shillings per broiler, but traders demanded for a reduction to 4,500, hence missing 119,500. Never the less, we are determined to reinvest 1,000,000 shillings to purchase 300 broilers and feed plus vaccines and medicine. We hope to get a minimum of 200,000 net profit, less of other expenses."
Thank you Dr. Mufumba for all of your time and assistance!
