March Update

Loputh's Surgery

Loputh is one very lucky child. He was found in the slums of Masese last August with a very serious ear infection and it was because of this ear infection that we took him in immediately. Lisa and her family came to the rescue right away and stood up to be his sponsor. Since then, Doctor Mufmba has tried treating him with antibiotics, ear drops and careful monitoring, but all to no avail. He has been seen by specialists in the big city of Kampala and this month, it was determined that he should go in for surgery. If left untreated any longer, the concerns were brain abscess, meningitis, deafness, septicemia and facial paralysis. It was decided that emergency tympanomasteidectomy was to be performed on March 30th. Loputh came out of surgery just fine and we are now awaiting recovery of his left ear before the same surgery will be performed on his right. Thanks to Doctor Mufumba and Lisa this very young child will live a normal and happy life.

Our Kids

The kids are enjoying their last few weeks at school before coming home for the long holiday to be with Prima and with each other. As always, they are all happy and full of life and of course send their love to all of their sponsors. Everyone has written letters to their sponsor and those will be in the mail to you shortly.

Women's Sustainable Business Project

The chickens are now almost 6 weeks old and just about ready for sale. The women are learning more every day and starting to take more initiative to run their business. Doctor Mufumba and Margaret have been working hard to teach these women a new way of life and how to be responsible and to work hard. Once the chickens hit the market, there will be a profit for the women to split and to reinvest in the business and also some left over to help sustain themselves. The hope is that the business will continue to grow and to become more successful with each cycle.

Logel Joins his Siblings and the Peace for Paul Family!

This month we welcomed yet another child into the Peace for Paul family. Logel Michael has joined us and is happy to be reunited with his brothers Loputh and Bosco and his sister Natule. Just like Bosco, this young man aspires to be a doctor.

Fundraising for the Final Land Payment

The final land payment is due at the end of April and we have been working hard to raise the $17,000 needed to make Peace for Paul the full owner of a beautiful 3 acre plot on the Nile River. This land will be the site of our future self sustainable foster home and the place that our children will call home.
